South Carolina EMS Association

DT4EMS Instructor course

Deadline has passed to apply.

The South Carolina EMS Association is looking for EMS Providers to become DT4EMS Instructors!

In Partnership with the South Carolina HealthCare Coalition, SCEMSA is proud to bring you this educational opportunity.

With the increasing violence seen against EMS providers and first responders across the country, we as an Association have an opportunity to deliver our providers an education course to better prepare them for a violent encounter.

DT4EMS is a defensive tactics class designed by EMS for EMS. The 16-hour course has been taught for over 25 years across the country. The focus is scene safety and techniques to survive aggressive encounters.

Through our partnership with the South Carolina Healthcare Coalition, the SCEMSA is sponsoring four instructor classes, one per region in April and May 2024. As part of the free course offering, the SCEMSA expects that trained instructors will be available to participate/teach at least 1 class per year that is open to the public. If a candidate is accepted into the course, an attestation of understanding will be required. Upon completion, you will have the opportunity to teach on your own.

Help us make the EMS provider's work environment a little safer!

Please read the FAQs below for complete details.
